The Road Transport Department will launch online citizen services for the first time in the State here from March 1.
The facility is intended to do away with the practice of middlemen besides reducing paper work and eliminating the need for citizens having to wait in ques to avail of the services said the AP Transport Department Transport Commissioner N.Balasubramnayam.
The ‘Service Delivery Mission’, one of the 17 missions identified by the State Government is to achieve the objective of total digitalization of citizen services. The entire data will be moved to the cloud and citizens can upload all their documents themselves for processing by the department.
One can transact from their smart phones to know the status of their application. He said that the buyer of a vehicle can apply for registration from the showroom itself and immediately after buying the vehicle, a digital photograph of the chassis no. a photograph of the vehicle and a photo of the owner could be uploaded form the automobile showroom itself. The chassis number would be digitally certified by the dealer and the department would generate a ‘One Time Password’ for the buyer and a mail would be sent to him/her to reconfirm the chassis number. Then it would allot and release the vehicle registration number on the same day and sent it to him/her by mail.
