Prominent writer Olga gets Kendra Sahitya Academy award

The Kendra Shitya Academy Awards that were announced today and Telugu writer Olga bagged the award for her compilation of stories ‘Vimukta’.

Olga the original name is Popuri Lalitha Kumar is one of the top Telugu writers. She was born on November 27, 1950 in Guntur and did her post graduation from Andhra University. She worked as Telugu lecturer at VSR College, Tenali. She penned so many works that included stories and some novels. She also worked for movies and bagged three awards for the stories for the movies produced under Usha Kiran Movies.

Olga worked as president for Asmitha Resources Centre for Women from 1991 to 1997 and is currently holds general secretary post. She was awarded best writer from Andhra University in 1990 and was selected for Lok Nayak Foundation Award in 2014.

Among her works are the novels Sweccha (1994), Sahaja (1995), Manavi (1998), Kanniti keratala vennela (1999), Gulabilu (2000), and Rajakiya kathalu (1993), Prayogam (1995) (two short story collections).
