Privileges committee recommends one-year suspension of Roja

Thursday, March 16, 2017

The Assembly Privileges Committee has recommend the suspension of Nagari YSRCP MLA R.K.Roja for a period of one year.

The privileges committee on March 4 met under the chairmanship of TDP member Gollapalli Surya Rao has taken a decision and submitted its report to the Assembly on Thursday.

It may be recalled that she was earlier placed under one year suspension for her unruly behavior when she raised her voice on Call Money Sex racket. She was suspended on December 18, 2018 without referring the matter to the privileges committee and her suspension has come to an end on March 6. The privileges committee in the report stated that Roja has not tendered her apology wholeheartedly and unconditionally. The committee has left the decision from which date the suspension comes into force has left to the Assembly.

Political analysts have come heavily on the ruling party way of approach and are subjected to severe all-round criticism in extending her suspension for one more year despite Roja said that she didn’t commit any wrong doing. Punishing her for twice for the same cause is undemocratic, the political analysts felt. They faulted political conspiracy in the issue.
