MP M.Muralimohan inaugurated the Post office Passport office here today.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the citizens of the twin Godavari districts need not go to Visakhapatnam for getting a new passport or for renewal from now. He said that this will be more useful to the youth wanting to go abroad for studies and jobs as they would be able to get their passports in a short time.
Regional Passport Officer NLP Chowdary said that the Rajamahendravram Post Office Passport Seva Kendra is 165th facility in the country. He said that three more centres in Kakinada, Srikakulam and Anantapur have been proposed in the second phase. Centres opened in Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore and Chittoor in the first phase. Beginning with there would be 50 slots per day which would later be increased to 100 slots.
Chief Post Master General K.Balasubramanian said that the postal department was invited by Ministry of External Affairs to start Passport Seva Kendras through out the country. They have started this service successfully taken up Aadhar enrollment service.
