Sunday, January 10, 2016

The Special Investigating Team (SIT) police will file a petition to the court seeking week day custody of former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu, the A-9 in the spurious liquor case.

It may be recalled that the Krishnalanka police have arrested 9 persons in the December 9 tragedy in which five persons were dead after consuming liquor at Swarna Bar and Restaurant. According to police, Vishnu is not the licence holder of the bar but was the main person who was running the bar. He was the benami and running the liquor business in the names of other family members said the Commissioner of Police D.Gautam Sawang.

The Commissioner of Police said that they are planning to check the income sources, bank accounts, income tax returns, partners and other details of Malladi Vishnu. ‘We will invoke Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act against the accused’, he said. The first bail petition was dismissed in the court and if he move the bail petition again, SIT will oppose the same as the accused is not cooperating with the investigating authority. Meanwhile, the police have recorded the statements of many witnesses who revealed that Malladi Vishnu threatened the neighbors of the bar over parking and other issues several times.
