Police thwarted the attempts of the advocates to storm the Collectorate today.

It may be recalled that the advocates have been agitating for nearly one month demanding that the High Court be established in Kurnool. They took a rally and tried to storm the Collectorate. Police thwarted their attempts. The sari of Kurnool Bar Association president V.Nagalakshmi Devi was party torn and three advocates, two of them women sustained injuries when they tried to cross the barbed wire fencing put up at the main gate. Another woman advocate was injured when her hand got crushed between the gates when the police closed it to prevent her from getting into the premises.

The advocates raised slogans at the main gate even as Minister for Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy was addressing a review meeting. Later, the advocates were allowed into the Collectorate where they brought their demand to the notice of the Minister who promised to take it to the notice of the Chief Minister.
