Saturday, January 30, 2016

Police has opened fire in the air to disperse a crown after an alleged remark by a police officer over the wearing of ‘burqa’ triggered tension among minority community members at I Town police station today.

The protesters attacked the vehicle of SP and broke its window shields forcing the policemen to open fire in the air. Mayor Abdul Aziz also rushed to the spot. The SP dismissed the rumors as baseless and said that tension arose after policemen prevented some youths from a minority community from entering a meeting venue on Friday. He said that the issue had nothing to do with burqa. ‘It was a mistake on the party of police. I tried to pacify them. I visited the police station and offered tender an apology’, said Bhupal.
