Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas said here that all the government teaching hospitals in the State will be made designated organ transplantation centres.
The minister said that the expensive procedure of organ transplant would now be available at the State-run teaching hospitals free of cost. He said that orders were issued to start the facility in Guntur and Visakhapatnam and soon will be available at Tirupati. The Jeevandan trust through which the entire process of organ retrieval and transplant were being done would be strengthened.
The Minister announced the plans to recruit 500 doctors, 1,000 staff nurses and 16 administrators. The PPP model which has been working out well at GGH, Guntur through which 140 open heart surgeries were done would be replicated in other hospitals, he said.
