Non bailable warrant issued against HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao

The Second Metropolitan Magistrate court in Anakapalli today issued a Non-Bailable Warrant against HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao for not appearing before the court.

It may be noted here that he was charged with violation of the election code in 2009 general elections in which he contested for Anakapalli constituency under Praja Rajyam Party. It was alleged that he distributed cricket kits and saris to young voters.

The TDP and Congress leaders have lodged complaints against him and the election flying squads raided a house and seized a huge quantity of the items in question on April 3, 2009.

The Returning Officer lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case against him under Sec.171 (E) of the IPC. The Minister did not appear before the court despite several noticed served on him. The Judge JVS Satyanarayana Murty today issued the NBW and posted the case to September 11.
