‘The AP Women’s Commission is in favour of enacting a law to bring television serials under the purview of the Censor Board’, said Nannapaneni Rajakumari, Chairman of the Commission.
Nannapaneni Rajakumari visited women prisoners and girl students at the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison and interacted with them. Speaking to media, she expressed the concern that certain serials being televised on various channels were being portrayed as villains and anti-social elements in a few of them.
She said that makers of such serials are focusing only on ratings and not on their impact on society. Women and girls are subjected to disgrace because of some serials. She added that the Commission would not keep mute over the issue.
On the increase of patients getting treated in government hospitals, she said that the quality of treatment and facilities improved in the hospitals. On sharing of one bed in some hospitals, the authorities expressed helplessness over the situation. She said that there is an immediate need to increase the number of beds and the Commission would send a report to the Government.
