Nandyal by-poll – counting of votes on August 28

Addressing a training camp for the staff drafted for the counting of votes for the Nandyal by-election that was held on August 23, the District Collector S.Satyanarayana said it would be taken up in 18 rounds in a transparent manner at Government Polytechnic College here on August 28.

The District Collector said that votes would be counted on 14 tables and each table would have a micro-observer, counting officer and counting assistant. One supervisor and counting agents of the political parties would supervise the process from outside a wired mesh. He directed the officials to note down he candidate-wise polled votes displayed in the control unit after showing it to the counting agents and take their signature in form No.17C.

As many as 20 counting officers , counting assistants and micro-observers each and reserve staff would be present in the counting hall. Returning Officer Prasanna Venkatesh, ZP CEO B.R.Eswar, Adoni RDO) Obulesu and Kurnool RDO Hussain Sahed were present.

Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jatti said tight security arrangements were made for the counting of votes by deploying one CRPF company, five APSP platoons and 10 striking forces. The security comprised of an additional Superintendent of Police, five DSPs, 17 Circle Inspectors, 38 Sub Inspectors and 74 ASIs and head constables, 260 constables, 20 women constables and 44 sections of Armed Reserved Personnel.
