Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy who died of cardiac arrested was laid to rest on Monday evening with State honors at Shoba Nagi Reddy Ghat.
Police personnel carried rifles by lowering them while Nagi Reddy’s body was taken in a cortege decked atop a flower-bedecked truck amidst drum beats as thousands of party activists, his followers and large number of people followed it from his residence at Allagada. The body was wrapped in a national flag and police personnel gave a gun salute and blew the bugle as his son Jagat Vikhyat Reddy lit the pyre.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, Union Minister Y.Sujana Chowdary, Deputy Chief Minister N.Chinnarajappa and K.E.Krishna Murty, Chairperson of Legislative Council A.Chakrapani, Speaker Dr.Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, a host of Ministers, former MLAs, Ministers took part in the last journey. All shops and establishments, hotels, educational institutions and offices were closed in the town.
It may be recalled that MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy dead on March 12 following severe heart attack.
