NCDRC stays order on Harita flat-directs VUDA to deposit Rs.1 lakh within four weeks

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has stayed the order of State Commission on delay in delivery of a flat by VUDA in its Harita housing project subject to depositing Rs.1 lakh within four weeks. In the order, Presiding member K.S.Chaudhari and Member Prem Narian said that amount deposited with the State Commission should be kept in FDR initially for a period of one year and adjourned the hearing to September 9. The order was passed in an appeal filed by VUDA for stay and condoning delay.

One Chavva Sheela Reddy of New Delhi filed a complaint before the AP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission alleging deficiency of service for failing to complete the housing project by November 2011 that might be extended up to three months and handing over the HIG flat allotted to her.

The State Commission president Justice Noushad Ali in December last awarded a compensation of Rs.2 lakh for mental agony and deliver possession of the flat.
