Mudragada serves ultimatum to Chief Minister for a GO

Former Minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu demanding issuance of a GO by today evening.

In the event of otherwise, sources said that he will be undertaking ‘fast unto death’. Mudragada is calling for a meeting at 3pm to chalk out future course of plan of agitation. Meanwhile, shops in Tuni remain closed.

Police top officials are visiting the affected areas today. As many as 20 police vehicles were sent on fire. East Godavari Superintendent of Police Ravi Prakash is already camping and reviewing the situation. Police are planning to slap cases on those who indulged or instigated in violent incidents. Section 144 has already imposed in Tuni town.

IG Viswajit, SP Ravi Prakash, DIG Hari Kumar are camping and are reviewing the situation. Senior Railway officials are visiting to estimate the loss due to burning of coaches of Ratnachal Express and will submit a report to the higher authorities.

Mudragada Padmanabham press meet
Former Minister and leader of Kapu Aikya Garjana Mudragada Padmanabham speaking to media today said that the agitation is not favorable to any one party. He said that he will undergo ‘fast unto death’ within three or four days. He would continue the deeksha even if he will be arrested and put in jail. He faulted the rumors that his caste and he himself has been sold. Efforts are being made to present Kapus as rowdies. He gave a call to continue the agitation in a peaceful manner and maintain restraint. The calling of agitation immediately is only with a view that it will go out of hands and create more tension. The demand of Kapus merging in BCs is years’ old one. He asked the political people not to meet him to express solidarity. He had no political aspirations and will continue to fight till the demands are met. ‘The current agitation has been chosen as a last resort’. Mudragada condemned the attack on police and on media.

‘Anti-social elements behind the arson’, says Pawan Kalyan
Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan addressing the press that it is very unfortunate to set ablaze the Ratnachal Express. He said that he believed in peaceful agitation and suggested to take the issue to the notice of the government in peaceful ways. The issue of reservation for Kapu community is not the new one but of decades old. The issue is burning from British time but came only in 1956. He alleged that the political parties are using them for vote bank politics. He expressed the opinion of some anti-social elements in the incident. He opined the hand of experts in the incident. Some of the points he raised are - faults the government for not posting sufficient police force at the meeting venue. Kapus has no faith on the Kapu Commission. They have had some inherent fear in them. He wanted the political leaders not to address them in a provocative way. Government has not taken any precautionary measures. He wanted the government to have a clarification either by saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’. He said that he always thinks of the national unity.

One person commits suicide for Kapu reservation::
KAKINADA: One person Suri Babu has today committed suicide in Kakinada Collectorate premises by hanging himself to a TV Dish in East Godavari district. The alerted policed found a suicide note in his pocket that states that ‘ demands to include Kapu community in BCs. Expects that Pawan Kalyan will do justice but remains only waiting. Pawan said that the party is questioning party but remains question less party. Wishing justice through Kapu Garjana’.

Chiranjeevi finds fault with Chief Minister for the violence::
Congress Rajya Sabha member K. Chiranjeevi faulted Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the Kapu reservation agitation. In a letter to Chandrababu, he said that they were taken for granted and delaying a final solution on the issue. He said in his letter ‘You must make a unanimous resolution in the House to provide reservations for Kapus without effecting the interests of other BCs and send it to the Centre for approval’.

Jagan Reddy speaking to media said that the BCs deserve reservations without affecting the others. He said that the party is demanding what was stated in the TDP manifesto. He said that the party supports the reservations to Kapu community. Jagan said that their demand is justified. He said that Chandrababu Naidu is responsible for the growing intolerance in Kapu community.
