Motkupalli favours merger of TDP with TRS

TDP Politburo member Motkupalli Narasimhulu has favoured the merger of Telugu Desam Party with the TRS.

He said that the TDP has weakened over the past couple of years with no effective leader who could steer the party through the crisis it was faced at present. He said that the leaders are undergoing a lot of turmoil due to the recent developments.

Motkupalli said that joining the TRS would be an honourable exit for the party as the TRS had been formed by K.Chandrasekhara Rao who himself was a former member of the TDP. He wanted the party leadership to treat this as an advice and hoped that the party present Chandrababu Naidu would take his remarks in the right spirit.

A section of senior leaders of the party headed by the then working president A.Revanth Reddy reportedly quit the party recently as a fall out of these differences and joined the Congress even as the TDP witnessed an exodus of senior leaders in the party.

Meanwhile L.Ramana dismissed the claims of Motkupalli and termed the comments as of his personal view. He said that the party continued to be a strong force in terms of cadre strength and it would be a strong contender in the coming elections.
