Moorthidevi Award for Prof. Dr.Kalakaluri Enoch

Noted Dalit voice, poet and academic Dr.Kalakaluri Enoch has been named for the prestigious Moorthidevi award for 2015 by the Bharatiya Jnanpith Organization.

The award selection board headed by Prof. Satyavrat Shastri met in New Delhi on Friday and unanimously decided to confer the 29th Moorthidevi award for Dr. Enoch for his literary work, ‘Ananta Jeevanam.’. This is the first time that a Telugu writer has been selected for the award. The Moortidevi Award is an annual literary award in India presented by the Bharatiya Jnanpith organization for a work which emphasizes Indian philosophy and culture. In 2003, the prize included an amount of 1 lakh , a plaque, a statue of Saraswati, and a shawl. The cash prize was raised to 2 lakh in the year 2011 and to4 lakh ) in the year 2013.
