MRPS protest – police van burnt and police identifies suspects

A police van was burnt after the MRPS protest turned violent opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University on Friday.

The police have identified the accused involved in the torching of the van. A team headed by senior police officer in Guntur identified the accused based on the account of the driver of the police van and corroborated the evidence with the CCTV footage at Kaza Toll Plaza. Police collected few petrol cans and said the accused had used dry stgraw to torch the vehicle. The accused are likely to be produced before media on Tuesday in Guntur by DGP N.Sambasiva Rao.

The police have registered 12 cases – seven in Guntur Urban and five in Krishna districts over incidents relating to the blocking of National Highways at Kaza, Kantheru, torching of police van in Guntur and stone throwing of two buses in Krishna, braking glass pans at the Kaza Toll Plaza and destroying barbed wire fences on the National Highways.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who reviewed the case with the DGP , Additional DGP (Law and Order)(Intelligence) and SP of Guntur and Krishna expressed his displeasure over their failure of intelligence wing in anticipating the large turnout of MRPS activists.
