MCI increases 62 PG medical seats for both Telugu States

The Medical Council of India has increased 62 PG medical seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for the year 2016-17 academic year. Telangana got 42 while Andhra Pradesh 20. Telangana State has 620 PG Medical seats and Andhra Pradesh 516.

The increase came following the MCI teams inspected medical colleges in December last in both Telugu Speaking States to check for infrastructure and availability of faculty. They submitted proposals for an increase of 100 seats, the MCI approved 62. Of them 30 seats have been given with conditional approval, the colleges have been asked to rectify the deficiencies pointed out by the MCI with regard to faculty and infrastructure in three months.

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada will hold the joint entrance examination for both the States for PE medical admissions..
