MCI approves re-allocation of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences students

The recommendations of the State government to re-allocate the medical students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences was in principle approved by the Medical Council of India.

The Minister for Health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas held a meeting with the Chairman of Medical Council of India Jayshree Mehta to this effect.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Kamineni Srinivas said that the Supreme Court had sought proposals for re-allocating students of FIMS for which the State government had proposed that 99 students of the medical college be accommodated, nine students per each college in all 11 government colleges in the State. He said that the MCI had agreed to the proposal as a one time measure and the same will be conveyed to the apex court during it’s hearing on September 27. He said that there will not be any burden on the students, he said.

Kamineni Srinivas said that there were 24 seats in Super Specialty were left vacant and the Directorate General of Health Services was going to conduct one more counselling for which the Advocate General Mukul Rohatgi had sought the permission of the Supreme Court.
