BJP Parliamentary Party on Monday announced the name of Union Minister for Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu as the Vice-President of India candidate after its one and half hours long meeting.
Venkaiah Naidu won twice as an MLA from the upland Assembly constituency of Udayagiri in Nellore district in 1978 and 1983. He devoted his complete attention and time for strengthening the organization. His career grew along with that of the party in all aspects. He led ‘Jai Andhra’ movement in 1972-73 and was imprisoned for six months in jails in Visakhapatnam and Musheerabad. He was also active during anti-Emergency movement and jailed for 17 months in Musheerabad. During the ‘Jai Andhra’ movements, he used to address meetings with stalwarts like Tenneti Viswanadham and Goutu Latchanna. His oratorical and organizational skills attracted attention at that time predicting a bright future for his as leader from leaders like NSN Reddy and PV Chalapathi Rao.
Jagan promises support:: YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy pledged his support to Venkaiah Naidu and made the commitment on behalf of his party when BJP national president Amit Shaw telephoned him according to the party press release.
Pawan congrats:: Jana Sena party president Pawn Kalyan congratulated Venkaiah Naidu on his nomination as Vice-Presidential candidate and described it as a matter of pride for Telugu people.
Chandrababu Naidu welcomes:: TDP national president and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the development. Speaking to media on Monday night, he said that Venkaiah Naidu was special character who had been relentlessly striving for the development of not only Andhra Pradesh but also the entire nation. He paid due attention to the State and got many things done and being a talented leader, he deserved to be chosen for the prestigious post.
