Andhra Pradesh Minister for Endowments P.Manikyala Rao said that Krishna Pushkarams will begin on August 12 and ends on 23, 2016.
Speaking to press along with the Principal Secretary for Endowments JSV Prasad and Commissioner Anuradha today, Manikyala Rao said that as many as 173 pushkar ghats will be established in Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool districts. He said that that a ministers’ committee headed by Chief Secretary will be formed to oversee the arrangements. Another three committees will be formed with the local public representatives and district officials.
In view of the Krishna Pushkarams, the department has decided to modernize 326 temples falling in the region and works have already been commenced in this direction, he said. A special toll free number 1800 425 6656 has been launched formally by the Minister.
Tenders would be called for 10 MW solar power station and the power generated would be utilized for Simhachalam, Annavaram, Dwaraka Tirumala, Vijayawada, Kanipakam, Sri Kalahasti and Srisailam temples.
Pujas at devotees’ residence:: Based on the suggestion at the Hindu Sadhu Sants meeting at Tirumala, the endowment department has decided to perform pujas at the residence of the devotees. The priests would extend blessings at the devotes’ homes itself. The temple priest will go to the residence of the devotee for performing naming of a child, newly married couples, Annaprasana etc.,and will offer kumkuma to them. In the event of death of any person, the priest will perform prokshalana (purifying ceremony) with Siva Jalams, he said.
