Kanaka Durga Temple EO harassment – Archakas demand immediate suspension

The Archakas working at Sri Sri Sri Kanakadurga Temple here on Thursday staged protests demanding immediate suspension of the Executive Officer of the temple Narasimha Rao.

The archakas said that temple archaka Mangalampalli Subba Rao was hospitalized due to the harassment of the Executive Officer Narasimha Rao. Staff of different departments including temple officials, superintendents, AEOs, regular and contract staff , Veda pundits joined the protests with archakas in solidarity. Archakas associations in all the 13 districts have decided to stage protests.

It may be recalled that the priest Mangalapalli Subba Rao (37) had gone into coma following the alleged harassment of the Executive Officer.

Meanwhile, Sri Sarada Peethadipati Swroopananda Swamy visited Durga temple on Thursday and expressed solidarity to the protesting archakas. Speaking on the occasion, he demanded that an FIR be registered and the EO should be arrested immediately. He gave a call to take a hunger fast on Friday.

Minister for Endowments, P.Manikayala Rao visited the ailing priest in the hospital along with the MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao. The minister has asked the executive officer to go on long leave. Bonda Umamaheswara Rao has asked the minister to suspend the EO from duties for which action would be initiated after a report submitted by an enquiry committee
