YSRCP chief and Leader of the Opposition in the AP Assembly Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday called on Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan and sought him to take steps to divest the four defected MLAs of the party who were inducted in the State Cabinet by using his powers.

Jagan in his memorandum submitted to the Governor asked him to take corrective action by insisting upon the resignation of these MLAs from the Assembly as allowing the unconstitutional act would endanger the future of democracy.

Jagan said four MLAs – N.Amarnath Reddy, C.Adinarayana Reddy, R.V.Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao and Bhuma Akhila Priya – elected on the YSRCP ‘B’ form were sworn in as Ministers at a time when the party had moved disqualification petitions against 21 MLAs defected to the TDP.

He said that the strength of the YSRCP was shown as 66 which included the four MLAs as also 16 others who defected to the ruling party and this was also published on the AP Legislature’s website updated on March 31. He said that the institution of the Governor had been established to ensure that such lapses did not occur and we wanted the Governor to initiate action in accordance with the provisions.

Jagan said that the party would not leave the issue here and had resolved to take up to the national level. He sought appointment with the President and Chief Election Commissioner to represent the issue. He said that they would meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi if need to be to appraise him about the action of the BJP’s alliance partner TDP besides consulting other political parties.
