Jagan Reddy to participate in silent protest for SCS- Police clamps Section 144

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

YSRCP has announced its resolve to participate in the candlelight rally being organized in the State in support of the demand for Special Category Status to the State.

Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he would participate in the candle light rally at RK Beach to express the party’s solidarity with the people agitating for the cause. He expressed his concern over the restrictions being imposed by the Chandrababu Naidu led government on the proposed peaceful protest by clamping section 144 and Section 30 in different pats of the State.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that ‘I will participate in the rally in Visakhapatnam. Let the government arrest me and register cases against. I am leaving it to Chandrababu Naidu’s wisdom’, he said. Interestingly, he invited Chandrababu to participate in the rally if he was committed to protecting the interests of the State and the gesture by the Chief Minster would take the anguish of the people for denial of the status to the people of the State. He alleged that Chandrababu’s efforts to dilute the demand were evident from the fact that he himself claimed at a press conference on Tuesday that he had given up the demand after the announcement of special financial package.

Pawan gives long-drawn battle

Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan tweeted on Wednesday that he Union and the State governments should be prepared for a long-drawn battle of Andhras if they stop them from expressing their feelings in a peaceful manner. He said that people knew when to cooperate with the govern and when to confront it. He questioned what the MPs from the State had done in Delhi except that the NDA would not SCS. ‘It is because of your inaction that youth are forced to come on to the roads. You neither fight for SCS nor allow them to take up the cause. What is the solution to then?, he asked.

In this back ground, the police have clamped Section 144 under II Town Police Station, Maharanipeta, III Tow, MVP Colony, IV Town, Dwarakanagar, Arilova, PM Palem, Bheemunipatnam, Anandapuram and Padmanabham.

Section 144 came into force from 5pm on Wednesday and would be in place till Friday 6am. Speaking to media, City Police Commissioner T.Yoganand said no permission had been given to any group to hold any meeting or candle light march including YSRCP. He appealed the YSRCP and fans of Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, students of various colleges and youth not to assemble and take part in any kind of protest on Republic Day and during the Partnership Summit as the Intelligence agencies had sounded red alert.
