JSP president urges Governor to treat Titli cyclone as special case

JSP chief Pawan Kalyan has urged the Governor ESL Narasimhan to request the Central government to treat the recent Titli cyclone that hit Srikakulam district as a special case and extend assistance liberally for relief and rehabilitation.

He was accompanied by senior leader Nadendla Manohar called on the Governor and submitted a representation seeking his intervention into the issue. He briefed him about the six-day visit to the cyclone hit areas. He said that the government had failed in terms of preparedness and immediate response after the cyclone crossed the coast. He said that communication lapse is one of the major reasons behind the loss which could have otherwise prevented. The State government had not set up Ham Radio network in spite of the previous experiences and revenue and police officials did not reach out to the villages to alert the residents.

He demanded that the Governor direct the State government to announce cent percent loan waiver for all the farmers and provide compensation of Rs.10,000 a hectare for horticulture farmers for the next ten years.
