Lok Satta founder president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan has favored direct elections to the Chief Minister’s post following deteriorating political situation in Uttakhanad. He said that it is time to elect Chief Ministers directly by the people rather than through the legislature party. He said that the developments in Uttarakhand that witnessed defection of MLAs to imposition of President’s rule proved beyond that political power had moved away from values and public interest. He said to overcome the menace of purchase of MLAs and corruption in politics, direct election be held separately for the post of Chief Minister and members of Assembly.
