International Fleet Review-2016

The International Fleet Review is an International Military Exercise hosted and conducted by the Indian Navy from February 4 to 8, 2016, Visakhapatnam.

February 4, 2016
Wreath laying ceremony will be organized in the afternoon at 1971 War Memorial. The Wreath is laid at ‘Victory at Sea Memorial’ which is a homage to mark the victory during 1971 Indo Pakistan War. Maritime Exhibition:: The overall theme of the Maritime Exhibition is Make in India. It will showcase Innovation, Indigenization and potential of the youth of our country.

February 5, 2016
Chief of Naval Staff of India Admiral R.K.Dhowan will host a press conference at Hotel Novotel Convention Centre here. An opening ceremony is planned as a curtain raiser event at INS Satavahana Stadium in the afternoon.

February 6, 2016
Fleet Review:: Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, the Honourable President of India Pranab Mukherjee will take part in the event. He will review the International Fleet, a combination of Naval Warships from Indian Navy as well as frontline Navies from across the globe comprising over 75 frontline ships and submarines off Visakhapatnam. He will also review the Indian Naval Air Arm.

Indian Naval Band Concert ::Indian Navy’s Central Band will organize a concert as a part of this event at Samudrika Naval Auditorium in afternoon hours Presidential Banquet:: The Indian Navy will host a banquest for the Honourable President in the Eastern Naval Command Officers’ Mess. This will be attended by a host of dignitaries including from the Central and State Government, visiting Chiefs’ of foreign navies/Heads of Delegations and Indian and foreign participants of the IFR.

February 7, 2016
International Maritime Conference:: The theme for the conference is ‘Partnering Together for a Secure Maritime Future’. The conference is planned over two days on 07 and 08 Feb 2016.

International City Parade::Indian Navy conducts a parade across the RK Beach of Vishakhapatnam on 07 February 2016. The Participating will be marching contingents from the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force, State Police, NCC, foreign navies and marching bands from the three services and visiting countries.

CNS Reception::Admiral RK Dhowan, the Chief of the Naval Staff of India will host a dinner reception on completion of the International City Parade.

February 8, 2016 – Closing ceremony

As many as 52 countries have confirmed of their participation in the prestigious IFR. The first International Fleet Review was organized in Mumbai in 2001. 24 warships from foreign countries and 34 from naval chiefs will participate in the event. President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and a host of delegates from the country would take part in the review.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate a maritime exhibition. President Pranab Mukherjee would review the fleet on February 6 while the Defence Minister would inaugurate the two-day international maritime conference on the theme 'partnering together for a secure maritime future', on February 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address the gathering and release a book on Maritime heritage of India.
