Infant selling racket busted and ten arrested

The police have arrested a ten member gang that includes two women who allegedly kidnapped infants and sold them to issueless couples. They recovered four male babies all aged between four days and eight months and seized Rs.3.10 lakh from their possession.

West Godavari District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan said, the Kovvur police based on a complaint registered in December last went through CCTV footages of several hospitals and junctions and noticed the accused carrying the babies hurriedly. After thorough investigation, police arrested the gang members.

The accused were identified as G.Durga Malleswara Rao, Tuli Appanna, A.Mallikharjuna Rao, Vadde Satyavani, Yenni Koteswra Rao, Chittiboina Varalakshmi, Pasalapudi Rambabu, Agni Govinda Raju, Vadde Venkata Ramkumar and Kosuri Bapi Raju.

The SP said that the accused kidnapped the babies at Kovvur, Rajanagaram and Peddapuram in East Godavari district and in Visakhapatnam and the gang sold the babies at Rs.1.5 lakh each at different places.
