Inspection and Certification (I&C Centres) for issuance of fitness certificate to transport vehicles will come up shortly at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.
Sources said that the Union Government has given it green signal to the proposals sent by AP Transport department to it. The Centre has agreed to release Rs.18 crore of IDTR and Rs.10 crore for I&C centres for its establishment.
The AP government has laid the foundation stone for establishing of IDTR at Darsi in Prakasam district. It may be mentioned here that the Centre has directed that those vehicles whose lift exceeds 25 years should not ply on the roads to avoid accidents. These three centres that would be coming at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool would cost around Rs.30 crore.
Sources said that there were around 11.50 lakh transport vehicles are playing in the State and over 3lakh vehicles life have reportedly exceeded 25 years. . The vehicles will be examined in a scientific manager and if fit, a certification will be issued.
