In view of the increased threat perception from non-conventional sources, the Indian Navy had in place a multi-layer security for the entire event. Apart from the conventional security columns on the shore, the Navy had mounted surveillance in the port and on the sea, said Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R.K.Dhowan. He said that the Coast Guard was monitoring all traffic on the sea close to the shore and checking even the fishing boats.
