High Court warns of Andhra University on irregularities in appointments

A Division Bench of High Court comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J.Umadevi today warned the Registrar of Andhra University not to postpone taking action on the reports sent by the government on irregular appointments made in the university.

The Division Bench dealing with a PIL filed by Umamaheswara Rao who alleged irregularities and blamed the then Vice Chancellor for it. The government ordered inquiry and the report confirmed irregularities. The university standing counsel told the court that the executive council met on October 20 and decided to appoint sub-committees regarding further action.

The bench wondered how much time it would take to take a final action. The case will be listed on October 30 and the Registrar will have to inform the court on the progress made.
