High Court summons Executive Officer of TTD

A Division Bench of the High court comprising of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Ganga Rao today directed the Executive Officer of TTD to appear personally in the court next week to explain why counter affidavit and action taken report was not filed for the last ten months with regard to fleecing of pilgrims by hotels at Tirumala.

The Division Bench was dealing with a PIL petition filed by Parihara Sevasamithi through its founder president Bharadwaj Chakarpani. He told to the Court that while granting the licence to run a restaurant, the TTD impose the condition that the named items shall along be sold as per rates fixed by it. The hotels are charging 500% more. In November last, the bench asked the Executive Officer to file counter and action report on the erring restaurants. The case was listed on December 6, 2016. The case had come up for hearing in the first week of October this year but found that there was no response and adjourned the case to Tuesday.
