Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar of Hyderabad High Court today stayed the arrest of Paderu MLA Giddi Eswari in a case of sedition registered after she charged the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding the proposed bauxite mining in Agency areas.
The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by the MLA who is a tribal herself complained that the police have invoked the draconian section of sedition and accused her of attempt of murder. She said that she participated in the public meeting of tribals protesting the bauxite mining and added that the police are threatening to arrest her. The court stayed her arrest but permitted the police to continue the investigation.
It may be recalled that the Araku and Paderu police have booked cases against her for making derogatory comments against Chandrababu Naidu in a public meeting at Chintapalli on December 10 which was addressed by YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in protest against bauxite mining.
