Justice P.Naveen Rao of Hyderabad High Court refused to stay the ongoing election process to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation.

The judge dismissed the miscellaneous applications while admitting the main writ petition. These separate cases were filed by Medisetty Eswara Rao, Tadi Bhavani Prasad and T.William Harry, residents of Kakinada. The petitioners complained that only 48 wards were notified, reservation and demarcation of wards was not property done with proper notice. The issue of reserving the post of Mayor was also raised.

He made it clear that the election would be subject to the final outcome of the petitions. He directed the government to file a counter affidavit. He posted the case of William Harry to August 30.

It may be recalled that the Kakinada Municipal Corporation polls – YSRCP and TDP announce candidates.
