High Court orders notices to State government on the buildings on river bed

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Uma Devi today ordered notices to the State government to respond the allegation of illegal structures on the Krishna River bed in Undavalli of Tadepalli mandal, Guntur district.

The Division Bench dealing with a PIL petition filed by YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy (RK) of Mangalagiri. RK alleged that these structures violated environmental laws and added that the officials kept quiet when he made representation. The bench ordered notices to the respondents that included owners of guest houses of which Lingamaneni Ramesh was one. They were ordered to respond by October 10.

According to sources, the Division Bench has ordered for issuance of notices to 57 persons including 8 officials.
