High Court directs not to spend on decoration of temples on the eve of New Year

The Hyderabad High Court today directed all temples under the jurisdiction of Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust should not spend money for decoration of temples on the eve of New Year.

The High Court directed to follow the circular issued by the Endowments Commissioner. However, the court allowed the temple authorities to conduct arjita sevas, special pujas and other traditional issues on the wishes of the devotees. Orders to this effect have been issued interim orders by Justice Challa Kodandaram on Friday

A petition was filed challenging the Endowments Commissioner’s orders on December 21 banning all the temples under the purview of Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust to decorate on the eve of New Year. Justice Challa Kodandaram has ordered notices to the State government and posted the case directing the State government to submit an affidavit with full details.
