HCU student suicide- Opposition stages walk out

With the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani’s replay in Lok Sabha over the suicide incident of Rohit Vemula and the charges of sedition against students of JNU, the opposition had walked out by CPI(M) and Bahujan Samaj Party.

BSP chief Mayawati had been demanding the inclusion of a Dalit in the panel probing the sucidie of Vemula and attacked the government for appointing a one man judicial commission of former Allahabad High Court judge Ashok Kumar Roopanwal. She said that the government had not answered where a Dalit member is part of the commission or not and added that Justice Roopanwal is form the upper case and the government’s intention s dubious, she said.

CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury took on Smriti Irani on certain facts in her reply. He said Rohit Vemula, in his letter written a month before he committed suicee had said he should be given a rope which indicated the state of his mind. ‘What did the university do’, he asked. ‘You have pushed the child to commit suicide, it is virtually a murder’, he said.

Rohit’s mother attacks on the minister
Radhika Vemula, mother of Rohit Vemula had sharpened her attcks on the Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya and others for branding her son as anti-national and extremist. Speaking at a press conference at the Indian Women’s Press Corp, she asked the union HRD Minister to shed her soap opera persona and accused her of blatantly lying in Parliament on Wednesday on the circumstance surrounding the death of her son. She warned Modi that BJP would be decimated if he did not take action against Smriti Irani, Dattatreya and others concerned.
