Thursday, July 27, 2017

Sources said that the State government has decided to give unemployment allowance to white ration cardholders.

The allowance will be given to youth in the age group of 18 to 35 taking the eligibility criteria for government employment into consideration. If a person is unable to find a job immediately after graduation and is facing financial stress, the allowance should come in handy, said Chief Minsiter. He reportedly said that mere providing unemployment allowance would not suffice and adequate training and skill development would be given to them. The concept of self-employment would be promoted, he said.

There are inconsistencies in the data available with the government. Sources said that the unemployed youth is 9.5 lakh on the live register of the employment exchanges and 34 lakh according to Prajasadhikarika. The Planning and IT departments would form a committee to check the data and eliminate inconsistencies.
