Government gives permission for 44 IT companies to set up its units

Minister for Information Technology Palle Raghunath Reddy said here today that the State Government has so far given permission to 44 IT companies to establish its units at a cost of Rs.5,000 crore.

Speaking to press after a meeting of the High-Powered Committee on IT, he said that Visakhapatnam and Tirupati have been declared as ITIR. An Incubation Centre in an area of one lakh sq.ft is already functioning in Visakhapatnam. Two signature towers will be coming up in another 20 lakh sq.ft. in the city. Millennium Towers would be constructed in Visakhapatnam at an investment of Rs.190 crore in an area of three lakh sq.ft. He said the Michigan Institute of Technology has come forward to establish a Fab Lab at an investment of Rs.8 crore. He further said that Electronics cluster at a cost of Rs.2,000 crore would come up in Anantapur district. The High Powered committee had approved the proposal to de-notify IT SEZ at Rushikonda Hill-2 in Visakhapatnam.
