GVMC plans to make the city ‘slum free’

GVMC Commissioner Pravin Kumar has said that 20,000 houses have been sanctioned for the poor during the current financial year.

At a focus group meeting with slum-level federation members, SHGs and representatives of smart cities on Friday, he said that plans were formulated to make Visakhapatnam a ‘slum-free’ city. He said that application forms for houses would be available at all the ward offices. Filled in applications should be submitted through the Mee Seva centres in the city. He said that steps have been initiated to provide job oriented skills to 6,000 jobless youth. The selection of the candidates for the training would be at Swarna Bharathi Auditorium on Monday.
