Former MP and Minister Poosapati Ananda Gajapati Raju passed away today morning due to cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital here.

Ananda Gajapati Raju is the chairman of Maharajah Alak Narayan Society of Arts and Science [MANSAS] is an Educational Trust. He was elected as MP for two times on TDP ticket and also worked as minister for Education and Health. He is the trustee of Simhachalam, Ramatheerdham, Arasavalli, Srikurmam temples. He is currently hereditary trustee for 108 temples.

He married to Uma on 18 August 1971. He is survived by two daughters. Uma and Ananda Gajapati Raju got divorced in 1989.

Ananda Gajapati Raju was the second son of Maharajah Vijayarama Gajapati Raju. He is the brother Ashok Gajapati Raju, Minister for Civil Aviation. Ananda Gajapati Raju holds two PhDs one in Economics from Andhra University and another in Education from United States. He worked as Health Minister and Education Minister in combined Andhra Pradesh.
