Former Giddalur MLA Anna Rambabu quits TDP

Friday, August 4, 2017

In another set back to the Telugu Desam Party, Giddalur former MLA Anna Rambabu announced his resignation from the party unable to sail along with it.

He announced the decision after holding consultations with his followers in Giddalur. He said that ‘I am unable to continue in the party as the present incumbent is doing everything to weaken the party and causing hurdles to the development of the constituency. I feel humiliated as the leadership has turned a deaf ear to the concerns expressed by me over the political developments in the constituency’, he said.

However, he made it clear that he would not join any party as of now. He said that he would take an intensive campaign against the defection of YSRCP MLAs to the TDP without resigning from their posts as it made a mockery of democracy and the anti-defection law.

It may be recalled that he had switched over to the TDP from Congress on the election–eve in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested against Ashok Reddy.

It may be recalled that TDP MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy resigned the party and switched over to YSRCP at a public meeting held in Nandyal recently that sent heatwaves to the party.
