Five workers killed following leakage of poisonous gas from an Aqua factory.

Five workers were killed following the leakage of poisonous gas from Anand Aqua Food processing unit at Nalavari pond in Mogalthur today on Thursday.

Sources said that the unfortunate incident took place when the workers were cleaning the chemical tank resulting in the leakage of poisonous gas.

The deceased were identified as Eega Edukondalu, Jakkamsetty Pravin, Nallam Edukondalu, Boddu Rambabu and Thota Srinu.

The incident gained importance at a time when the local farmers were opposing the Mega Aqua Food Park at Thundurru. It may be recalled that Jagan Mohan Reddy rushed to Thundurru and support their demand. Local farmers said that heavy police force was posted and are harassing them but the government is going ahead with the project.

With the news of the death spread, the entire village and the relatives of the deceased attacked the factory. Some of them broke the windowpanes of the factory office and tried to enter the premises. As the police force from Narsapur could not control, additional forces from Eluru were rushed to bring the situation under control.

Narasapuram MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu reached the factory in the evening along with the District Collector Katamaneni Bhaskar and Ministers Atchnnaidu and Peethala Sujatha announced the seizure of the factory. They announced that an ex-gratia of Rs.15 lakhs would be paid from the management of the factory and Rs.10 lakh from the government to kin of the five of the deceased.
