Five students of NIT suspended following ragging of a student

Five students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) here were suspended following incidents of ragging and attack on Friday.

The issue came to light today morning when the first-year student launched agitation protesting ragging by seniors. Students of second and third years allegedly attacked a first-year student from Bihar Mukul Kumar and also a security guard who tried to come to the rescue of the student. Following a complaint, NIT coordinator Srinivasa Rao suspended five seniors and asked the police to book case against 15 students including those suspended.

The police team rushed to the institute and talked to the students in the presence of coordinator Srinivasa Rao. He announced suspension of students Guna Sai Prakash, Sushanth Goel, Saketh, Prithviraj and Srinivas. He asked the police to book cases against 15 students . Mukul Kumar who was injured in the incident was taken to government hospital for treatment.
