First CRPF battalion established near Amaravati

The Centre has allotted a CRPF battalion to provide security for AP Secretariat, Chief Minister’s residence and the Camp Office located in the Capital Region.

The 39th Battalion, comprising 1,000 personnel will also take up anti-naxal operations in Telangana and Chattisgarh borders and on the AP-Odisha Border. The State government has allocated land for the battalion headquarters in Chinavutapalli in Krishna district and allotted 15 acres of land at Newgondalapalli village near Agripalli in the district.

Commandant V.V.N.Prasanna Kumar said that they have launched operations form Chinavutapalli village recently. The priority is to provide security to Velagapudi. He said that due to security reasons, the battalion headquarters was set up away from Naxal dominated village and near the Capital region. The jawans will get permanent dormitories and other facilities in Agripalli mandal, he added.

Four more CRPF battalion are operating in Visakhapatnam and Rajamahendravaram in the State and at Warangal and Bhadrachalam in Telangana State. The Battalion will coordinate with the four battalions and is conducting combing operations on the borders of the two States, he said.
