Fire accident in Biomax company

A fire broke out on Wednesday at around 7.30pm in Bio Max company at SEZ, Duvvada in which 12 oil tankers were reduced to ashes. Oil Refinery tankers were blasted due to the effect of the fire accident. Officials are supervising the operations conducted by civil and navy and helicopters were pressed into service. Sources said that around Rs.200 crore loss was occurred due to the fire accident.

Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, district administration is overlooking the operations. The deputy Chief Minister said that the nearby locals were shifted to safer places. Fire tenders were fighting right from the night to till now in putting down the flames.

About 10 fire engines reached the spot and additional fire engines with chemical foam were requisitioned from HPCL, NTPC, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the Eastern Naval Command, to fight the blaze. The Biomax facility at VSEZ has a manufacturing capacity of 5 lakh tonnes per annum from multi-feed stock, and is considered to be one of the biggest bio-diesel plants in India. The storage tanks exploded one after another, as the raging fire spread from one tank to another and fire fighters were unable to make any progress on the ground till late in the night.
