The ACB has trapped E.Vijaya Kumar, working as Sub-Inspector in the Department of Prohibition and Excise, Chittoor today.
The investigating agency unearthed several properties disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting upon information, the ACB conducted simultaneous raids at five places-two in Chittoor, one ach in Tirupati, Kurnool and Katpadi. The searches started at 6.30am at the house of the accused and also that of his friend both in Chittoor town, his sister’s house in Tirupati and his in-laws’ place at Katpadi in Vellore district.
A shed at Kajoor was found in the name of the accused. There were four residential houses, three in Kajoor and one in Greamspet in Chittoor town in the name of his wife Meena besides 10 house sites and three farm lands in Yadamari mandal, a four wheeler, a tractor and a trailer. A plot and a four-wheeler were found in the name of his son Vivek. Cash of Rs.10 lakh and 700 grams of gold estimated to value Rs.10 lakh were also unearthed. Two bank lockers were yet to be opened. He was arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases.
