A 28 year old engineering dropout from Rajamahendravram took social media as a source of earning money in a easy way and allegedly targeted girls and extracted money to the tune of Rs.1.25 crore.
This came to light when a girl student from Rangaraya Medical College lodged a complaint with the police who traced his criminal record and took him into custody. DSP, Kakinada Ravi Varma said Jogada Vamsikrishna alias Harsha reportedly deceived many girls from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and allegedly collected about Rs.1.25 crore in the last four years. “ Girls were his soft targets and he used several means to collect money from them and threatened those who tried to pressure him to return the amount, he said.
The accused was earlier arrested by Hyderabad police and jailed on charges of cheating unemployed girls to the tune of Rs.80 lakhs by offering jobs in reputed companies about two years ago. He, however, managed to secure bail and allegedly resumed his old tactics.
Though the exact number of girls allegedly deceived is not known, the investigating officers suspect it could be more than 100. His prime target is a girl with a job or from a sound financial background as he never picked girls for poor financial background or those above 30. Police sources said that according to a rough estimate, he allegedly collected about Rs.80 lakh in Telangana and another Rs.45 lakh in Andhra Pradesh.
