The Department of Posts is set December 31, 2017 to link their postal accounts with Aadhaar and mobile numbers as per the orders of the Government of India.
The Department of Posts will set up 585 Aadhaar enrolment centres in the State and people can get their Aadhaar identities updated at 1,595 post offices. The DoP is in the process of opening 24 India Post Payment Bank branches including one at the Buckinghampet Post office in Vijayawada said the Chief Post Master General K.Balasubramanian on Friday while speaking to media.
As far as the payments banks are concerned, they will extend all services like a commercial bank except lending and issuing credit cards. He said that it will set up Passport Seva Kendras at seven Head Post Offices and three had already been opened in Head Post Offices at Kadapa, Kurnool and Nellore.
He said that it is conducting walk-in interviews to recruit agents for Postal Life Insurance and rural PLI from November 6 to 17 at the respective divisional offices.
