DGP warns policemen against indulging in illegal activities

The Director General of Police N.Sambasiva Rao today said stern action would be taken against anyone, no matter what their positon was, if they were found indulging in illegal activities.

Speaking to media during his visit to Sri Padmavati Devi temple, he said they had earlier suspended several officials and would not hesitate to initiate similar action if they were proven guilty. ‘Some officials have forgotten their duty and are succumbing to temptations such as drug trafficking. Such issues will be dealt with seriously and sternly as nothing would justify the act’, he said.

A special task force would be set up with Excise department to tackle the menace of drugs and urged people to relay any information to it. Besides this, he said plans were afoot to develop police stations across the State as ‘Model Police Stations’.

Meanwhile, former CBI Joint Director V.V.Lakshminarayana said that introducing students to a planned lifestyle since childhood would keep them away from bad habits. Speaking during the valedictory of the three-day programme organized by Sri Venkateswara University and Academy of Fine Arts, he urged the parents to observe the behavior of their children.
